We fell in love with this ancient stone house and its tower set in delightful gardens on top of a hill near the little medieval hamlet of Acqualoreto. The house itself is so romantic with views of the Tiber valley and the surrounding woods and fields, that it is a place that one might seriously falling in love in.
A completely secluded hideaway, it is however only 15 minutes from Todi and not far from Orvieto and the Tuscan border. This is the supremely comfortable, much loved home of an art historian and writer, and their taste and personality shine through in the artistic, cheerful, book-filled atmosphere. There is a piano, a roomful of toys and books for children. Although nothing could be more ideal in summer with the large gated pool and the views over some of the loveliest countryside in Umbria, its stone table for al fresco dining in the shade of old chestnut trees, this house is an all year round delight with its warm and cozy interiors, beamed ceilings and roaring log fires.
Sleeps Nine
Main House: The ground floor consists of the following: a lovely drawing room with fireplace, a large country dining room/kitchen with fireplace, a twin bedroom and a single bedroom which share a small bathy with shower and a laundry. Upstairs there are: a double bedroom with a charming small den attached with bath with shower, a second double bedroom with a bathroom with very pretty tiles and a huge master bedroom with fireplace which shares the tiled bath.
The price includes electricity and two maids twice a week for a total of eight hours. A cook may be arranged at extra cost.
Owners Portion: (upon special request only): This, completely separate, portion of the house is ideal for two people, particularly in the winter as it catches the sun all day and is easy to heat, either by fire or with central heating. Downstairs consists of a large living room with fireplace, a study, dining room with fireplace and a powder room. Upstairs: a large master bedroom, a large study with fireplace, kitchen and a full master bath with tub. A pergola outside, with a stone table and comfortable seating, facing the fields can be used far into the autumn or early in spring, for dining. A gardener takes care of the house all through the year.
