This very special property offers a tranquil hilltop location in southern Tuscany,
2 kilometres from San Casciano dei Bagni, known since Etruscan times for its natural
hot water springs and baths. From the house, as far as the eye can see, there are
breathtaking views over the beautiful surrounding countryside of both Tuscany and
Umbria. The owner has restored the house stone by stone, by means of an ambitious
ecological project incorporating bio-architecture. Every detail of the restoration
is in keeping with this technique, and with total respect for nature and for Tuscan
tradition. The electric power for the house is produced independently with a type
of wind induced generator combined with solar panels. An extra generator guarantees
electricity even when there is no wind.
The result of this ecological technology
is extraordinary, a typical stone-built Tuscan farmhouse, with beamed ceilings
and original cotto floors, yet equipped with all the most sophisticated equipment
that bio-architecture can provide. Another particular feature of this house is
that the guest house has been totally restored to cater to those restricted to
wheelchairs, or unable to move about easily.
