This is one of our favourite homes, halfway between the hamlet of Bolgheri
and the hill-top town of Castagneto Carducci in the heart of the Maremma
wine growing region. The view spans out over low-lying fields planted with
sunflowers towards the sea on one side and wooded slopes gently rising into
the hills on the other. Behind a high wall the Villa Tobias nestles among
beautifully landscaped gardens, the frail petals of old-fashioned English
roses strewn over the immaculate lawns. Villa Tobias is an oasis of calm in
a world of its own.
This is a much loved home where the owner lives all
year round except in summer. It is here that she invites prominent members
of the Italian and international intelligentsia to dine under the pergola
overlooking the gardens when she prepares delicious meals with fresh produce
from her carefully tended vegetable garden The Villa Tobias is furnished in
warm colors in exquisite taste with book shelves lining the walls and cozy
corners with fire-places and a well-equipped and inviting kitchen. This
house is the best of both worlds, a country house twenty minutes from the
beach, although many guests prefer to laze by her delightful swimming pool.
The main house sleeps eight while the charming annex with its own kitchen
and sitting room sleeps two. The annex can be rented separately all year
round.

On the ground floor there is a large foyer, living room, dining room, library with a large picture window facing towards the fields and sea, cozy country kitchen and powder room. An outside dining terrace looks onto the gardens.

Upstairs off a light-filled foyer are a double bedroom with small double bed and en suite shower, a master bedroom with small double bed and en suite full bath, a twin bedded bedroom with en suite shower only and a master bedroom with a king sized bed and en suite shower and a large laundry room.

| Annex |
|
|
The charming annex, an old farm building adjacent to Villa Tobias, can be rented with the villa or separately all year round when the main house is not rented. It has a large loft like open room with a day bed and open kitchen and a separate double bedroom and bath, all tastefully styled with the same warmth as the main villa. In the winter the owner is open to short stays.
